Other Passions

I had breakfast this morning with my former colleague and her husband.  I remember when we first met, we got along easily and shared our greatest hopes: mine was to be able to mother a child and her’s was to get married – she felt a lot of pressure to do so due to her culture, her own desires and to please her ailing father.

There aren’t words to capture how happy I am for her.  What a pleasure it is to be able to witness a dream accomplished!  So she told me that after breakfast she was going to go and take her first art class.  It was something she always wanted to do.  I have always wanted to learn how bake beyond a chocolate chip cookie and now after Ziggy with a combination of watching the food network and reading books and of course the internet I have really found a passion.

We talked about how now that we accomplished our dreams, we are finally pursuing other passions and rediscovering ourselves in the process.

We also agreed to meet on a semi-weekly basis to study for our HR certification.  I’m looking forward to spending more time with her studying, chatting…and of course baking (not babies!).

  1. Ooooh, baking is fun. And it will be a really great way to bond with Ziggy when she’s older. And of course, you can always send some to me for a taste test. LOL
